Domaine de l'Eglise, the oldest estate on Pomerol's renowned plateau, was first mentioned in the Vieux Papiers du Libournaisin in 1589. Originally owned by the church, it was secularized in the 18th century. Located next to Pomerol's church and near Château Petrus, the estate was acquired by the Castéja family in 1973. Known for its round, fruity character, Domaine de l'Eglise has been one of the most sought-after wines in Pomerol for many years.
